This is Blue Ridge Reservoir, one of the more scenic reservoirs in the area. It is located in the Coconino National Forest southwest of the Happy Jack Cabin approximately 15 miles (6 miles are on FR 751) by road, only approximately 6 miles as the crow flies. For more information see the Coconino National Forest page at this location, www.fs.fed.us/r3/coconino/recreation/mog_rim/blue-ridge-boat.shtml (You may need to copy and paste this link). The reservoir is located on FR 751 off SR 87. The 70 acre reservoir provides an opportunity to fish, boat (kayak, canoe, etc. no motors larger than 10 hp), view wildlife or scenery, picnic, hike or mountain bike. The Arizona Game and Fish Department stocks the reservoir with several species of trout. During the winter months FR 751 may be closed, you’ll want to check with the Coconino National Forest to ensure the road is open before planning this trip. You can drive to the dam, if you continue on FR 751 past the boat ramp and past the bathrooms, along a narrow road. You’ll be able to turn around at the end.
